CALL IT AS YOU SEE IT, BEAUTIFUL
Now is not the time to think highly of yourself for the sake of egotistical self-love, . Nor is it the time to cut yourself short for lack of egotistical self-love.
Now is the time to get very real about your flaws and fancies in an unbiased fashion. Remove all emotional attachment to how you see yourself and write in answers as if you were being assessed by someone who may have observed your behavior in a scientific sense. If you're struggling to call out the important bits, consider these questions:
Do you struggle with self-confidence or time management?
Are you reliable in ways that could serve your business?
Where can you foresee dilemmas or victories?
Do you set reasonable expectations and goals?
Are you typically satisfied with your work ethic?
Where can you find opportunities where others might not?
Your participation sets the pace of expectation for your audience...
If you start this business off by doing 5 blog posts a week, and then you push yourself to constantly promote your business, and then you happen to gain a following during this momentum of serious overwork...guess what? You've now set a bar of writing 5 blog posts a week, promoting yourself constantly, and interacting with an ever-growing audience that expects this level of consistency.
And that's all fantastic if that's what you want and that's what you have time for!
But if you aren't 100% aligned with your vision just yet and you don't have the time to maintain that level of workflow, you'll hit a burnout that forces you to either take a step back or continue onward despite the pain.
Embrace the workflow you want to emulate from here on out. Don't force yourself to overwork now just because you want to get your business up sooner than later. Work at a pace that you love and just enjoy the process.
REMEMBER: Consistent growth can be a graceful and relaxing experience where rapid growth is often painful and confusing. Allow this next year to be a graceful swan dive into soulful abundance!
WHY BOTHER WITH A HYPOTHETICAL SCHEDULE?
This schedule will be heavily adjusted in a few lessons, but for now it's important that you look at your existing day-to-day availability and find space to fit in the extensive workload that's coming your way with CAKE QUEEN, from website design to social media posting and everything in between. Doing so now will:
Help optimize your time management tactics,
Alleviate routine tasks with everyday availability,
Help you set reasonable deadlines,
And provide an estimated timeline for project completion.
THE POWER OF POSITIVE AFFIRMATION
"You will be a failure, until you impress the subconscious with the conviction you are a success. This is done by making an affirmation which 'clicks.'"
- Florence Scovel Shinn
, I want you to briefly research Florence Scovel Shinn and read some of her thoughts on spirituality and metaphysics. Florence believed that our experiences are a series of "boomerang" effects where what we put out into the world comes back toward us in the future.
Obviously I can't prove her right or wrong anymore than I could prove or disprove a religious belief in a 'god'. But here's the thing: we can observe how the way you speak and think to yourself significantly impacts your workflow and results.
Need more? READ THIS ARTICLE about how positive affirmations significantly impact the human subconscious which, in turn, influences conscious action.
Long story short: who or what you believe in is not relevant, all that matters is that you believe.
Begin to cultivate a deep connection with your intuition and know that it serves to guide you toward what is best for your health and happiness. While your brain fears change, your intuition welcomes it when that change serves a positive purpose, thus honing your intuition serves to keep you on track with personal growth and setting positive expectations.
Base your answers off of what you can feasibly do, not what you think the superhero version of you would do.
How many hours, minimum, are you able to commit to CAKE QUEEN? Per day? Per week?
Where can you find free time to complete minor tasks?
Are you willing to work on weekends?
Clarifying your dedication now can be a kind reminder later on for when things get overwhelming and you feel like you've made a mistake staring your own business.
Why will you show up when the work gets difficult?
What inspires you to do this work in the first place?
What excites you about this new future you're pursuing?
Starting your own online business from scratch isn't going to be easy, but it will be worth it!
But when things get tough, knowing how to encourage yourself will be a game changer.
What can you say to remind yourself why you're doing this?
What are some hopes you have for the future?
Whether that's your kids or your crummy job, your passion for your interest or your need for reinvention, choose the one thing that will remind you why this is all worth while when the work gets difficult.
It's important that you get in touch with your biggest fears for this business so you can mentally counteract them with grace.
Do you fear rejection or criticism?
Do you fear failure or success?
Do you fear shame or utter happiness?
FOR EXAMPLE: My biggest fear for RW.com is being judged as not worthy to share my message and help those who find me. Knowing my primary fear has helped me push past it when it arrives because I'm prepared for it. I know to recognize that fear in the moment and tell it to fuck right off back to bullshit boulevard!
FEAR SLAYER COMMITMENT
Now that you know your primary, intimate fear for this new business, what can you tell yourself to defeat it?
Can you think of a positive mantra?
Do you have a proof of concept you can revisit for validation?
Can you list off your favorite aspects for this business?
Personally? I tell myself to list off five things I find worthwhile in my work, things that are unique to me and make me feel confident about what I do. Then I list five corresponding people that I know would benefit from it. If I'm not able to list five worthy things or people who could benefit from my work, then I know I've strayed from my intentions and my fear instinct is 100% saving my ass from launching something that's misaligned with my vision.
